Congratulations to our January Hometown Hero, Newark Patrol Officer, Derrick Beach! In December, Officer Beach organized the Newark police’s first ever Cram the Cruiser food drive. Officer Beach said many police departments throughout the country have hosted similar events in the past and that he thought it would be a great way to get involved with the community while giving back to people who are less fortunate. Beach’s goal was to have the cruiser so full they could barely shut the door. Beach said he thinks more than 200 people donated items, such as soups, green beans and corn.
Thank you for all you do everyday as an officer, and for organizing such a special event this past year. Congratulations, Patrol Officer Beach!
