November 2014 Hometown Hero Award recipient
Blake Haxton is from Upper Arlington. In 2009 (his senior year in high school) Blake contracted a disease that resulted in the loss of both of his legs. He still managed to stay on track and graduate high school with his class mates. Blake was also on the U.A. Crew team. Blake went on to attend OSU and is now in his second year of law school. Blake also continued to row. He won a national competition and competed overseas. He hopes to make the para Olympic team in 2016.
