Darlene Bell and Ellen Lee

Franklin County

Congratulations to our November Hometown Heroes Darlene Bell and Ellen Lee.  After losing her grandson to a PTSD accident, Darlene helped inspire the military connection at Dreams on Horseback where horses are used to help heal veterans. Darlene has donated her time and effort to this wonderful program by sponsoring their military kid’s camp along with participating in raising more than $15,000 to help support all the Dreams on Horseback’s programs. Darlene was recognized as the PATH Region Volunteer of the Year for her selfless service.

Ellen Lee has dedicated herself to building a vocational training program for the past nine years at Dreams on Horseback. Ellen uses horse partnered learning programs to encourage at-risk high school youth to attend school, graduate and help provide them with job preparation skills. Ellen has poured her heart into this high school program which has been a 92% success rate and has served more than 100 young adults.

Congratulations to both Darlene and Ellen. Thank you for having such a positive impact on our community!
