Congratulations to our May Hometown Hero, Dan Alward of Licking County. Dan is not only a dedicated firefighter, husband and father, but he also encompasses the true meaning of a lifesaver. When Dan learned his fellow firefighter, Seth Coakley, was sick, Dan did the unthinkable and gave Seth the greatest gift of all – the gift of life – by donating his kidney.
Savings lives is part of a firefighter’s job, but this act of kindness has changed the life of his forever brother, Seth. Both firefighters are doing well and are on the road to recovery.
